This comprehensive project will replace two structurally deficient bridges on Route 113 where it passes over I-95 and I-295, carrying approximately up to 33,000 vehicles per day. Route 113 is a major east-west corridor for Warwick, linking large residential and commercial areas including access to the Community College of Rhode Island’s Knight Campus. The project includes paving, sidewalk work, ADA accessibility, new traffic signal upgrades, new pedestrian crossing features, and many other safety improvements along other important corridors in the city.

We’re replacing the bridges over I-95 and I-295 in Warwick through the $102.4 million Warwick Corridor project. We’re also upgrading important corridors and intersections throughout the city through paving, sidewalk work, ADA accessibility, new traffic signal upgrades, and new pedestrian crossing and other safety features. On Monday night, February 24, motorists can expect a reduction in travel lanes on both directions of Route 113 (East Avenue) where it crosses I-95 and I-295, to set up a safe work zone as part of this project. The left lanes will be closed for this operation on Route 113 East and West, between Route 5 and the main entrance to CCRI’s Knight Campus, from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. On Sunday-Tuesday nights, February 23-25, from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m., motorists can anticipate alternating lane closures on I-295, at the Route 113 overpass, to set up temporary traffic barrier, and weekdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., we’ll have alternating lane closures along Route 113, from Route 5 to CCRI’s Knight Campus entrance, for roadwork. |
